Our hiking tour will be 2 miles long; this trip includes a support vehicle for immediate assistance, so there's no need to worry! When we arrive to the top of the volcano, you will see the amazing views of the valley and the Caribbean coast! It is here where we explore this beautiful place.
The Turrialba Volcano is a National Park and is approximately 3,332 meters above sea level. The Turrialba and the Irazú Volcanoes are known as the "Twin Volcanoes." The Turrialba Volcano presents 3 well-defined craters and others disfigured by the activity. The central crater is the deepest of them all at 50 meters deep. On its sides, there are two promising cones: the Tiendilla Peak and the Armando Peak. Presently, these "smokers" only release gas and vapor, with sulfur deposits. The last eruption was between 1864-1866. Its average temperature is 16°C and with an average precipitation of 3,000 to 4,000 millimeters per year.

Hiking Irazú Volcano National Park [top]
We will pick you up at your hotel in San José or Turrialba. The beginning of our hiking trip to the Irazú Volcano is located about one and half hours from Turrialba and San José near the town of Cartago.
The Irazú Volcano is an active volcano in Costa Rica, situated in the Cordillera Central close to the city of Cartago. Its name is believed to be a corruption of Irazú, which was the name of an indigenous village on the flanks of the volcano. In Costa Rica it is known by the name of "Colossus" due to the catastrophes that it has provoked in the past. Irazú has erupted frequently in historical times-at least 23 times since its first well-recorded eruption in 1723. Its most famous recent eruption began in 1963 and continued until 1965. Its average temperature is 15ºC and with an average precipitation of 3,000 to 4,000 millimeters per year. This is a perfect tour for the adventurous people who would like to experience nature, the regional culture, and the wonderful views of this area.
Since the 1963-65 eruption, the volcano has been dormant, although frequent earthquake swarms show that magma is still moving about beneath the volcano. In 1994, a small eruption occurred, caused by heavy rains destabilizing part of the volcano's flank, resulting in rapid decompression of a shallow hydrothermal system.
The volcano's summit has several craters, one of which contains Diego de la Haya, a green crater lake of variable depth. It is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica. The volcano summit also spots a few television transmitters for television stations in San José.
From the top it is claimed to be possible to see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans on a clear day; however, such clear days are very rare indeed, and it is typical for the volcano's summit to be covered in cloud for much of the time.
After visiting the volcano you will enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch, "Casado" at a local restaurant before the end of our trip.

Guayabo National Park it covers a 228 hectares of mainly secondary tropical forest (where we may see the ecological succession in progress) on valley slopes surrounding the visible site. Of the estimated total city are of 18 hectares, only 2 hectares are open to the visitors.
There are large circular rocks, and aqueduct (still working after 2,000 years), a complex water containment system and an amazing cobble stone road waiting to be explored. Human occupation was established as early as 1,000 BC. but, it was between 800-1,400 AD that the culture really flourished here before mysteriously abandoning the area.
